THE RAREST GLOBE WE MAKE

The Globe Calacatta is a sphere incense burner carved from a single block of Calacatta Viola marble, quarried in northern Italy. Each piece weighs approximately three kilograms and measures as a sphere — hollow inside, with apertures through which incense smoke rises and diffuses into the room.

Calacatta Viola is distinguished by its violet, rose and grey veining on a white ground, formed by mineral intrusions concentrated in a specific quarry region. The geological conditions that produced this stone are increasingly rare, making each block — and each piece — unrepeatable.

This edition is limited to 100 numbered pieces. A certificate of authenticity is included with every order. No further editions are planned.

Compatible with Palo Santo sticks, incense cones and incense sticks. Made by PȺCU STUDIOS.

"It arrived and I genuinely did not want to put anything in it. I left it on the shelf for a week just as an object. Then I lit it. Both are correct."

— Clarissa B., Munich

WHAT COLLECTORS SAY

"The veining on mine is unlike anything I've seen in marble. It looks like a painting someone forgot to finish. Perfect."

Markus B.

BERLIN · VERIFIED BUYER

"I've bought a lot of objects over the years. This is the only one that stops every single person who visits my home. No questions — just silence, then 'what is that?"

Lena H.

MUNICH · VERIFIED BUYER

"Ordered number 47 of 100. Came with a certificate. The stone is heavier than I expected, which is exactly right. You feel its value before you use it."

THE STONE

A marble formed
over millions of years.
Available in one hundred.

Calacatta Viola originates from a narrow band of alpine geology in northern Italy. The violet coloration — ranging from pale lilac to deep burgundy depending on the block — comes from manganese and iron oxide intrusions that formed under specific pressure and mineral conditions. These conditions no longer exist in the way they once did. What is quarried now is what remains.

We select each block by hand. Not every block of Calacatta Viola qualifies — we look for consistency of white ground, clarity of veining, and structural integrity throughout. Most do not pass. The ones that do become this Globe. This is not a material that works as a background. It presents itself. The ritual it holds becomes quieter for it — the stone asks you to be still, and the incense agrees.

a note

"We rejected 14 blocks before we found the ones that became this run. The standard is not aesthetic — it is geological."

Designed in Munich, Quarried in Italy.

Each block of Calacatta Viola passes through our hands before it becomes a Globe. The material's character determines the object's presence — we do not impose uniformity on a stone that has spent millions of years becoming itself.

A Quiet Moment

No rush.
No noise.
Just the room, and the mind, settling.

Set it down. Light it. Let the smoke rise at its own pace — there is nothing else to do.

The body notices before the mind does — a longer breath, a softer shoulder, the kind of quiet the nervous system reads as safety. The Globe asks for nothing beyond a flame; the rest, smoke has always known how to do.

How to light it

The Ritual

01

Place

Set the base on a flat surface. For cones or Palo Santo, place directly on the stone. For resin, use a thin layer of sand.

02

light

Ignite your incense. Let the flame catch for a moment, then blow it out so only the embers remain glowing.

03

cover

Gently place the top half of the Globe over the base. The smoke will naturally find its way through the carved channels.

Questions

Still have a question?

Calacatta Viola is one of the rarest marbles quarried in Italy. Its vivid violet veining on a white ground cannot be replicated by synthetic means. We source only blocks with exceptional veining consistency. The price reflects the stone, not a margin — each piece costs significantly more to source and finish than standard marble.

Yes — more so than any other stone we work with. Calacatta Viola has dramatic, non-repeating veining. No two Globes will carry the same pattern. The piece you receive is genuinely one of a kind within a run of one hundred.

The stone stays cool to the touch. The incense burns inside — the marble absorbs and distributes the heat naturally without damage.

Wipe with a dry cloth only. No water, no cleaning products, no oils. Marble is more sensitive to acids than travertine — keep away from citrus, perfume and alcohol. The stone will develop a gentle patina over years of use. This is natural and desirable.

Yes. Palo Santo, incense sticks, white sage bundles and loose herbs all work. For resin incense, place a thin layer of sand in the lower bowl to protect the stone from direct coal heat.

Yes. Once this run sells through, the Globe Calacatta Viola will not be restocked. Calacatta Viola blocks of this quality are quarried in small yields — the material itself determines the edition size.
