Instead of placing the upper hemisphere on the base as usual, place it inside the base so that both bowls lie inside each other.

You can then insert the incense stick into one of the holes in the upper hemisphere. The fine smoke will drift gently upwards, while the ash falls neatly into the lower bowl—an aesthetic, meditative image that further enhances the effect of your ritual.

You can also use the GLOBE with charcoal and resins such as frankincense, myrrh, or copal.

• Be sure to use a layer of smoking sand to buffer the heat of the coal
• Close the ball completely, as in the classic application
